The British Library is the national library of the UK. Its collection has developed over 250 years and exceeds 150 million items representing every age of written civilisation and includes books, journals, manuscripts, maps, stamps, music, patents, photographs, newspapers and sound recordings in all written and spoken languages. 

See the Magna Carta, Jane Austen's notebook and original Beatles' lyrics on display in its Treasures Gallery, which is free to enter.  The Library also runs temporary exhibitions in its Entrance Hall and Paccar Gallery.  Recent exhibition topics have included Shakespeare, Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter and James Cook. 

As well as exhibitions, the Library offers a full programme of events, award-winning shops, cafes and restaurants.
